Questions we get asked
If yours isn’t here, email info.whichremote@gmail.com and we’ll answer it.
How much does it cost to identify my remote?
Nothing. Identification is free and there’s no obligation. We’ll tell you exactly what you need even if you buy it somewhere else.
How quickly will you reply?
You’ll see our best match on screen as soon as you choose a photo. We then reply the same day, usually within a couple of hours during the week. If the photo doesn’t settle it, we’ll ask for one more, normally of the label on the motor.
What if I can’t find a label?
Send a photo of whatever you can reach: the remote, the motor unit on the ceiling, or the receiver box on the wall. If that doesn’t settle it, we’ll ask for another and tell you where to look.
Labels are often on the side of the motor unit, on the receiver box, or inside the remote’s battery cover. What to photograph shows each of them.
Will the new remote work straight away?
Almost always after a quick pairing step, either at the motor or from a remote that already works. We send simple steps for your system, and help by email if it won’t pair.
Do you help with programming?
Yes, it’s included. Most remotes that “don’t work” just need pairing. If yours won’t play, email us and we’ll walk you through it. It usually takes about five minutes.
What is the Correct Remote Guarantee?
An optional £6.99 add-on at checkout. If the remote we identified turns out to be the wrong one for your system, we’ll replace it or refund you.
How do I pay?
Press Buy now on your photo match or on your remote’s page. You pay securely through Stripe by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or the other options shown at checkout, and get a receipt by email. UK delivery is £3.99. If you’d rather we checked your photo first, send it and we’ll reply with the exact model and price before you pay.
Why are some remotes cheaper elsewhere?
Often because they’re copies or “compatible” remotes, not the manufacturer’s own. A genuine remote has the maker’s name on it, such as Somfy or Hörmann, usually with the model name on the front or on the label on the back. Copies often leave the name off. Some won’t pair with your system at all, and a universal remote that works by copying can’t copy a rolling code. Everything we sell is the genuine remote, with set-up help included.
Why didn’t my universal remote work?
Most garage systems from roughly the last fifteen years use rolling code. The signal changes every time you press the button, so there’s nothing for a universal remote to copy. Rolling code vs fixed code explains it properly.
Not sure which remote you need?
Send us a photo of the remote, the motor or the box on the wall, whichever you can get to. We’ll reply the same day with the exact model and what it costs.
